Why use a teleprompter for short videos?
Short videos look effortless, but most of them are not improvised. The first three seconds decide whether people keep watching, and it is hard to deliver a sharp hook, a clear point and a call to action from memory, take after take. A teleprompter lets you keep your eyes near the lens and say exactly what you planned, so you spend your time on delivery instead of on retakes.
How the PostRN teleprompter works
- Text at the top, close to the camera. Your script scrolls in the upper part of the screen, right under the front camera, so your eyes stay close to the lens.
- Your speed, your size. Change the scrolling speed and the text size while you film. PostRN remembers your settings for next time.
- 3-2-1 countdown. Tap record and you get a countdown before the camera starts, so the video starts on your first word.
- Front or back camera, always 9:16. Film yourself or what is in front of you, in the vertical format every short-video app expects.
- Retake or keep. Watch the take, try again if you want, then save it to your phone and share it to any app.
- Practice mode. Run through the script with the teleprompter only, without recording, until it feels natural.
Seven tips to read a script without sounding like you are reading
- Write for the ear. Short sentences, everyday words, one idea per line. If you would not say it to a friend, rewrite it.
- Set the speed a little slower than feels right. You can always talk faster; chasing the text is what makes eyes dart.
- Hold the phone at eye level and about an arm's length away. The further the lens, the less visible your reading becomes.
- Read it once out loud before recording. You will catch the words you trip over, and fix them before the take.
- Mark your pauses. A line break is a breath. Use them after the hook and before the call to action.
- Smile on the first word. Your energy in the first second sets the tone for the whole video.
- Do it in one take, then pick. Two or three full takes usually beat one take stitched together from pieces.
