Why captions matter on short videos
On TikTok, Reels and Shorts a large part of viewers watch without sound, at least for the first seconds. If they can't follow what you say, they scroll. Captions keep them reading — and the hook you worked on actually lands. They also help people who are hard of hearing, and anyone watching in a second language.
How captions work in PostRN
- One tap after recording. On the Save screen, tap Add captions. PostRN listens to your take and burns the captions into the video, usually in under a minute.
- Word by word. Short lines of a few words appear exactly when you say them, and the word you are saying is highlighted in yellow — the style viewers know from the big creators.
- Spelled like your script. PostRN knows what you meant to say, so names, brands and numbers are written the way they are in your script, not the way a speech engine guesses them.
- In the right place. Captions sit below your face and above the area where TikTok and Instagram put their buttons and your post text, so nothing covers them.
- Your language. Captions work in the languages PostRN writes scripts in: English, Slovak, Czech, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.
- Undo anytime. Don't like it? Undo returns the take as it was. Your original recording stays on your phone.
Tips for captions people actually read
- Speak in short sentences. Short lines on screen are easier to read at a glance.
- Pause after the hook. A half-second break lets the first caption line land before the next one.
- Leave the bottom of the frame free. Hold the phone so your chin is roughly in the middle of the screen; the captions go just below it.
- Keep your post text short. On TikTok and Instagram it covers the bottom of the video. PostRN keeps captions above it, and a short post text keeps the whole picture clean.

How long does it take to add captions?
Usually under a minute for a 30–60 second video. Keep the app open on the Save screen while it works.
Are captions free?
The free plan includes captions on one video a month so you can try them. PostRN Pro includes captions on 30 videos a month.
Can I add captions to a video I didn't record in PostRN?
Not yet. Captions are added to takes you record with the PostRN teleprompter, so they can follow your script's spelling.
